Brings back memories of my childhood.I remeber the first time I saw Swan Lake performed by the National Cuban Ballet in Havana 1966 danced by Alicia Alonso back then she had begun to lose her sight. Again in the late 70's or early 80's in Los Angeles CA. We crossed picket lines in los ANgeles to get in . Its a shame that people cannot let go of the politics when it comes to Art. These dancers are excellent. Unlike many ballerinas, who always play themselves, Vingsay Valdes plays the Black Swan, who is a demon. She poses and entices and seduces and amazes. Others have played this role as victorious, which it isn't. There is a thrill in her balance, but knowledge that the demon will bring the downfall of the white swan. It is great to see a dancer who can make every moment a surprise.

Some comments here are amusing (and I am staying away from the puto/puta controversy). The relative beauty of Joel's legs (and feet!). The fact Vingsay is overweight according to anorexic standards. I only see two beautiful artists, extraordinary talented and very athletic. I don't have to be a connoisseur to see it (and I am certainly not one). By the way, Vingsay looks perfect in every way.

joel does do a really nice saute in this pas de deux. it's like "WHAM!" and he has some pretty legs and feet; they're alittle bit better than jose's but just alittle bit.
