seconded. it's like modular music with not so interesting modules. the arrangements are sparse enough to not make it completely unbearable. but, of course, fans blame criticisms on a person's "lack of understanding of the technical brilliance" yet they can't seem to define how it's particularly brilliant as such other than to illustrate the fact than "other people like it"

First, try to understand that Messiaen had one of the most brilliant ears ever, and his principal work was abaout the brids singing. So in this particular work, the clarinet is a "mirlo" and the violin is a "nightingale" the cello tries to sound like the forest in a sunrise in a concentration field. Remember that messiaen was a prissioner in the second world war.

How would I go about getting that knowledge. Seriously, I'm a musician and I just don't understand this music. I wanna know why he is so great and is such an influence to so many.

OK. You're joking. Just making sure. That's pretty creepy.

The wedding was very avant-garde, with nude bridesmaids, and most people in black body suits. The dancing consisted of mostly rolling on the floor and flinging hands upward with fearful expressions on our faces.

How could you dance to this? I don't even think I could WALK to it.

My wife and I danced to this at our wedding.

This is one of the greatest music works ever created. If your ears cannot listen this, it's because you dont have enough knowledge and sensitivity in this estetic form, it's not your fault, even for a professional musician iy's difficult to understand this kind of music. This is a Masterpiece.

Try writing something pretty and 'integrated' when you are in a prisoner of war camp, trying to portray the atrocities that happened there every day. I think that it's trying to show you a time and place which is disintegrated and nihilistic, and does so beautifully. |
