you are thinking of flamenco style playing, classical guitar is normally very soft
albatross111 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
ha, a traditional spanish guitar is not soft or mellow, its percussive and bright! But I do agree with you I'd prefer a much more mellow sound. It's way to thin, she should have used her concert guitar with a microphone, instead of the built-in one.

Thank for sharing this video. I love this piece and the guitar as the focal point is awesome! She definitely is talented and can play the song well. The music draws you in and wraps you up harmony, emotions, and keeps you engaged.

For those criticizing this performance. Just appreciate the miracle of music breaking all sorts of barriers and getting to those most unexpected. She is blessed with that talent. Can you imagine how great she must have felt that day? Have you ever felt anything similar to that moment she lived? No? Then that is why you are using stupid things to hate her performance. (The sound? pLEAse!!) ENVY is a disease ... Get well soon.

I agree, you don't get the soft mellownes of a traditional spanish guitar
koolaidnhemlock (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
you must have no soul not to feel this.

The tone of this amplified electric classical guitar sucks; No soul. Very brittle.Really destroys it for me.The character of the sound does not reflect the composersSpanish heritage.

Beg to differ. Watch Pepe Romero's commentary where he interviews the Rodrigo's. |
