Your right! They were great for their time and that is all that really matters for any team in any era. I was just speaking hypothetically because I am sick and tired of people overrating these teams by saying they would beat any team from any era. By the way, Jordan's Bulls would have DESTROYED Russell's Celtics, hell these Lakers would have beat those Celtics teams! You need to re think that statement!

Dude anyone can talk about any team in any sport-MLB,NFL,NBA. A team can only come once just like life. I dont care how you want to look at it,when a team gives up 109 PPG and 47% shooting, which is what the 1987 Lakers gave up,that is a BAD DEFENSIVE TEAM! You simply cant win a championship playing that style anymore! I dont mean to take anything from the 80s Lakers,no one can ever take away what they accomplished, but they came at the right time! The only way they would be able to win in the 90s or today is if they DRASTICALLY improved their defense, which I highly doubt they would be able to!

Has it occurred to you that those 80s teams gave up over 100 PPG because they themselves had great offensives that scored plenty and often hence giving more possessions and chances for the other team to score.
