But a lot of people think the Benz were the first to put airbags in there cars, when they really weren't they were pretty much a fuirst in everything but that. And BMW was the first to put curtain airbags in their cars.

Where would the world be today without the German autobahn? Yes, we would not have the airbag, ABS, ESP, Brake Assist, PreSafe, traction control, etc. had it not been for the AUTOBAHN. Mercedes took advantage of the autobahn.

Yes, but it was until only later that GM started implementing airbags as standard. The reason why Mercedes put them as standard earlier is due to the autobahn.
